Weather forecasted to be sunny with some breeze, seems a perfect weather for climbing up the Donkey trail (the long trail below the cable cars). The trail is mainly paved roads with some dirt paths; the beginning section will be a bit challenging with demanding ascending steps up to the top of the Nei Leh Hill (total ascending about 700 meters), and descend to Ngong Ping. We then take a short rest and continue with a briskly stroll to Tai O.

There will be a possibility taking a detour along the trail to Ngong Ping, going up another trail that lead to Lantau Peak, but that will depend on the physical condition and feeling of the group.

This will be an average moderate hike (Greg adds: that's a "Lily Moderate", what us mortals call strenuous minus), but definitely not for first time hikers nor non-fit person.

Trail Route: Tung Chung—Old Villages (easy)—Entry to Donkey Trail— Donkey Trail (moderate)--Nai Leh Hill( easy to moderate)-- Ngong Ping ( easy)--- Tai O( easy)

      Meeting time: 10:00am
Meeting venue: Haagen Dazs in front of the CityGate Mall (Tung Chung MTR)
      Trailhead: Tung Chung
Trail end: Tai O (public transport back to Tung Chung and Mui Wo/Central)
      Hiking distance: about 13-14K
Difficulty: Moderate (Ref Rating 2.8/5), ( the first section is moderate and the second half is easy, but if take the option of other trail to Lantau, it will be moderate + but still easy back to Tai O)
Hiking Time : approx. 4-5 hours (depends on hiker physical fitness, will accommodate the pace of the group)
Things to bring:adequate water,at least 3 liters, lunch, hat, sunscreen, reliable hiking footwear, comfortable hiking clothes, umbrella.
Remark: You can exit at Ngong Ping if you don't want to continue. Buses and cable cars are available to take you back to Tung Chung.

      Happy Trail
