Lakewood Park again
- My visits to the park are partly exercise and partly for a change of
avian scenery. The backyard hasn't yielded anything unusual for
several weeks now. House Finches, House Sparrows and periodic visits
from up to 3 Black-capped Chickadees, a male/female pair of American
Goldfinches and one or two American Robins.
At the park yesterday I noticed that the American Coots have two
chicks. One of them must have been in the reeds the last time I saw
only the one chick with the adult.
The three Merlins were still there swooping around the outlet pond
and the marsh. When I first got there a Merlin was on the path about
20 feet in front of me eating something. I powered up the camera and
walked slowly towards it when another Merlin, which I hadn't realized
was perched in a tree only a few feet from me, flew away and the
other one took off with it. Arghhhhhhhhh!
I couldn't find the Northern Shovellers or the Ruddy Duck and even
the Canada Geese must have been in hiding.
P.S. Anyone know how to make this format my messages properly? I use
the Yahoo "reply" function and whether I have the "Wrap message text"
on or off, my message is still poorly formatted.
