      Hi all,

As those of you on Saskbirds already know, Harv Lane has been keeping a tally of all species seen in Saskatchewan in 2002. (A sort of competition with Surrey county in the U.K.)  They did quite nicely, running out of gas at about 305 species in early December.  At the same time, four birders in North Dakota wound up with individual year lists in excess of 300 species.  All this, very belatedly I must admit, piqued my interest in seeing how many species had been reported in Manitoba this year.  With some help from Rudolf, I've managed to compile the following list of 314 reported species in Manitoba in 2002.  Rudolf warned me not all are confirmed, but just for some fun I thought I'd post it to the list, and also to Saskbirds for comparison.

      Cheers,
