Don t worry, Sandy. The Eurasian Kestrel is not capable of killing a dove, except possibly an injured one -- it tends to go for mice, lizards and suchlike.

Don't worry, Sandy. The Eurasian Kestrel is not capable of killing a dove,
except possibly an injured one -- it tends to go for mice, lizards and
suchlike. (Perhaps these represent the dark side?) The name 'windhover'
is obviously derived from its habit of hovering when hunting--indeed it
behaves in a very similar way to the American Kestrel.
