      all,

just went back to see a 34-1 for the 3rd time. this time i brought some help. unfortunately, it seems like large protions of the foredeck, sidedeck, and cabintop have some sort of delamination. in places you can hear it sort of crunch a bit. not real bad, like a couple sabre 28's i looked at years ago, but enough to give pause. also, it looks like a surveyor drilled 2 1" in the side decks (from the underside) through the lower deck skin and into the core material. on one side the core material had been scraped out all around the hole (i presume indicating wet core). surprisingly, the color of the core was light brown. the color of the absolutely perfect core in my pearson 28 is almost white (i installed a hause pipe on the p28 and cut out a 3" hole). anyway, i'm guessing it's not white because the core material is compromised. but i stress that i am just guessing. i once met a man who bought a sabre 34-1 brand new, and had many warranty issues related to deck delamination. these deck delamination issues were never satisfactorily resolved, and he bought a PS-34.

soooo, any S34-1 owners out there have deck delamination stories, advice, comments? any and all comments very welcome.

right now, i've scheduled a surveyor i know to come by and just check the decks. i'll go from there.

thanks in advance to all of you.

      best,

      rw

What's the hull number for the boat you're looking at? Someone on the list may have knowledge of the boat.
