Ponce Inlet Florida Pelagic Trip - 2 October 2005

On Sunday, 2 October 2005, the Ponce Inlet Marine Science Center, a Volusia
County Florida governmental non-profit organization, is sponsoring a
pelagic trip to the western edge of the Gulf Stream, off Ponce Inlet.

The trip is part of a 3-day "Migratory Bird Festival-- Wings on the
Wind", put on by the Marine Science Center, and held from September

Friday and Sunday there will be a number of field trips.

The pelagic trip will be aboard the 'Sea Spirit', a 65' head boat based
out of Inlet Harbor Marina at Ponce Inlet, FL. The cost is $100 per
person, and there are spaces available for 35 people. The boat will
leave the dock at approximately 7am, and return at 5pm.

The area that will be visited, known locally as The Steeples, is a
productive location of underwater cliffs and seamounts that cause
upwellings and current edges, especially along the western edge of the
Gulf Stream. It is especially good for pelagic species during
