Lakes Park 1 Oct 2001 (Wilson's Warbler)
Lyn Atherton reported a female Wilson's Warbler from the area of the
amphitheater at Lakes Park, Ft Myers. The amphitheater is located near the end
of the paved path that runs adjacent to the west side of the Fragrance Garden.
Take the paved path from the last parking lot that is to the right after
entering the park. The path runs past the western side of the Fragrance Garden,
through the woods, and ends at the lake after crossing a small bridge. The
amphitheater is just before the small bridge. Check all the vegetation to the
left of the path, including Brazilian Pepper and Maleluca, surrounding the
amphitheater. It is a wet area that is excellent during fall and spring
In the Fragrance Garden, Lyn relocated the 2 or 3 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds I
reported Saturday, and also saw 3 Baltimore Orioles in the large ficus tree
located near the rear of the garden and across from the succulent garden, a
Gray-cheeked Thrush, and a few warblers.
