      Today at Bird Patrol’s Bunche Beach tour (~20 participants):

       

      8:00-10:30 AM, clear skies, light wind, extremely low tide had the birds present really spread out across the area.

       

      American White Pelican (large flock roosting on flats to the right of the beach and fly-over)

      Double-crested Cormorant

      Great Blue Heron

      Great Egret

      Snowy Egret

      Little Blue Heron

      Tricolored Heron

      Reddish Egret

      Yellow-crowned Night-Heron

      White Ibis

      Roseate Spoonbill (fly-over on entrance road)

      Wood Stork (entrance road)

      Turkey Vulture

      Osprey

      Red-shouldered Hawk (entrance road)

      MERLIN

      Black-bellied Plover

      Wilson’s Plover (one to the left of the parking lot)

      Semipalmated Plover

      Piping Plover (one banded)

      left leg: orange flag over “knee”, orange band with red line over black band under “knee”

      right leg: metal over “knee”, lime green band under “knee”
