The Very Revd Fr. Walter Raymond, Dean of the Anglican Cathedral of
the Holy Trinity in Quebec City, maintains a blog on his recent
visit to the Middle East where he spent time at the Armenian
Catholicosate of Cilicia in Antelias, Lebanon as well as the Syriac
Orthodox Patriarchate at Ma`rrat Saydnaya, Damascus.

His entries on his visit to the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate with
pictures provide a glimpse of the life at the monastery, the holy
places surrounding the monastery, etc. Of particular interest is his
description of HH Patriarch Zakka's typical day: "His Holiness rises
in the middle of the night to study and pray, going to bed again
following the matins (morning prayers), and rising a few hours later
for a long day attending to his many and various duties--for the
most part, welcoming a continuous flow of visitors--usually doing so
well into the evening. He is very much a spiritual father, much
      beloved by his people."
