KOTTAYAM, JUNE 18. Thousands of people bid a tearful farewell to
Bishop Benyamin Mar Osthathios, who died at a nursing home at
      Thrissur on Thursday.

The procession carrying the mortal remains of the Metropolitan was
met by priests, senior lay leaders of the Jacobite Church and
hundreds of others from different walks of life at Ettumanur, where
it entered the district, by noon. The procession then moved to the
St Mary's Church at Manarcadu via Ayarkunnam.

The mortal remains were placed at the Church for the devotees to pay
their last respects. The Metropolitan had earned a special place in
the minds of his flock through his total devotion and principled
life. People from all sections of the society irrespective of their
caste and religion had thronged the church by the time the body
arrived. It was placed at the Church for more than 45 minutes before
it left for the Simhasana Church in Kottayam town.

After special prayers, hundreds of people including priests from
sister churches, civic leaders and leading personalities from all
walks of life paid their homage to the Metropolitan.

The procession carrying the body of Mar Osthathios was taken to
Manjanikkara (Pathanamthitta district) in the evening via
      Changanassery, Thiruvalla and Kozhencherry
