      By SOMAN BABY

THE Supreme Head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church and the
Patriarch of Antioch & All the East, His Holiness Moron Mor Ignatius
Zakka I, arrives in Bahrain today.

He will be accompanied by Patriarchal vicar and first secretary the
Most Rev Julios Kuriakose and the Patriarchal vicar and second
secretary the Most Rev Elias Athanasius.

This is the second Apostolic visit of the Patriarch to the Kingdom.

The first visit was in March 1989.

He will be the chief guest at the silver jubilee celebrations of the
St Peter's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in Salmaniya.

The Patriarch will celebrate the first Holy Mass at 8.30am tomorrow
at the Indian School auditorium in Isa Town.

The silver jubilee meeting and public reception to His Holiness will
also be held on the same day at the same venue at 6pm tomorrow.

The second Holy Mass will be held at the St Peter's Jacobite Syrian
Church premises in Salmaniya at 7.30pm on Sunday.

During his stay in Bahrain, the Patriarch will visit one of the
charity institutions to present a donation as part of the church's
silver jubilee charity activities, said vicar Father Shyjan Kuriakose.

His Holiness will also speak at Beit Al Quran at 8pm on Monday.

Based in Damascus, Syria, His Holiness is the 122nd Patriarch of the
Holy Throne of Antioch, established by Apostle St Peter in AD37, said
      Father Kuriakose.

"The Patriarch is the Supreme Head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox
Church, spanning across the Middle East, Asia, Europe, Canada and
      America," he said.

People who require more information about the visit should call the
