728Re: [SORForum] Holy Qurbono in Malankara Syrian Orthodox Churches on Holy Friday 2005
- Mar 22, 2005Dear George
The SOC in the Middle East and Diaspora follow the Julian calendar
for Great Lent & Easter. That is the case with almost all Eastern
churches in the Middle East.
Malankara switched to the Gregorian calendar only in 1953 by the
Bull of Patriarch Aphrem I.
The changes are applied to Malankara was as per the request of
faithful from Malankara. The reasons for the changes are well
explained in the Apostolic Bull. A copy of the Apostolic Bull (in
Malayalam language) is available at following links.
Wish you a blessed Holy week and happy Easter
In the intercession of Holy Cross
