Turkish Authorities arrest another Syriac Christian
      June 8, 2001.

Yet another Syriac Christian in Turkey has been arrested arbitrarily.
Abrohom S. (around 20 years of age) whose parents live in southern
Baden-Wuerttemberg was arrested on Friday, 8 June 2001, in Idil
(district Cizre) in southeast Turkey. He was brought to the military
station, because he had made video documentary of a Christian
cemetery. He was documenting life in the Tur Abdin, where about 3,000
members of the Aramean minority still live. Another Syriac Christian
with a Swiss pass, who accompanied Abrohom S., was released. His
Kurdish companion is still in detention. Abrohom S. has been shifted
from Idil to the prison at Midyat.
