"You see that you are accomplishing nothing.
Look, the world has gone after Him!" John 12:19

The recent visit of the Supreme Head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka Iwas Ist, the Prince Patriarch of Antioch & All the East, to India was very successful in terms of spiritual, historical and the faith factors of the Holy Church. The most important activities were celebration of Holy Qurbana at Manarcadu and consecration of the Holy Mooron at Kothamangalam Marthoman Church. Only the Marthoman Church at Mulanthuruthy and St. Mary's Church at Manarcadu had this privilege earlier occasions in the whole Malankara Church as far as the consecration of Holy Mooron is concerned. As per the Canon of the Holy Church, H.H. Patriarch is only authorized to consecrate the Mooron, which is believed to be filled with the holy presence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Qurbana on thirteen Altars followed Mooron Koodasha.

Another important function was the second Synod at Mulanthuruthy (Jacobite Syrian Christian Association Meeting) held on 27.9.04 under the chairmanship and the holy presence of the Holy Father. It was in 1876 June 28, 29 and 30 that the historical first Mulanthuruthy Synod of the Syrian Church in India was convened by the then Patriarch H.H. Ignatius Peter the 4th. For the first time in the history of the Church in India, it was divided into seven dioceses and consecrated / appointed Bishops for each diocese and also ensured participation of the laity in the administration of the Church. Nobody in India had ever dreamt of such a democratic set up in the Church, although India was under foreigners' rule at that time and the people were struggling for freedom. If the Patriarchal See at Antioch was selfish and desired to keep the flock in India as a single Archdiocese of the Antiochean Church, it was very easy for them to do so at that time. As a matter of fact, the Holy See of Antioch never wanted to take undue advantage of the St. Thomas Christians except to make sure that the Christians in India should remain with the mainstream of the Holy Church established by Jesus Christ on the rock-like faith proclaimed by St. Peter, the Chief of Apostles, and their spiritual needs should not be stopped. The Church in Antioch never depends on the wealth or properties of Indians. Not a single pie was taken away by the Syrians from India. It is the case even today. It is the false propaganda by the satanic forces that everything is taken from India to Syria. By saying so they try to hide their misdeeds and befool the innocent members of the Church.
