Death Anniversery of the former trustee Pulliyattu Thukalan Paulo Avira

Today (31st October) is the 42nd death anniversary of Thukalan Paulo Avira, the former trustee of the Jacobite Syrian church. Born in the well known Pulliyattu Thukalan family of Kandanad, he was elected as one of the 3 Trustees of the church on 22 August 1935 at the Jacobite Syrian Christian Association held at St. George church, Karingachira. As the lay trustee he worked for the church for 3 decades under Valiya Thirumeni (St. Athanasius Paulose the Malankara Metropolitan). He was one of the close confidants of Valiya Thirumeni. His undaunted and memorable services for the church are highly laudable. In the representative Assembly of the church held in 1957 at Manracad under the supervision of the High Court of Kerala, he was reelected as the lay trustee unanimously. He was 78 when he breathed his last on 31 October 1962. He was buried in the Marth Mariam Jacobite Syrian Church, Kandnad. His forefather Thukalan Mathoo Paulose was one among the 24 member Managing committee elected by the first Mulanthuruthy Synod of 1876.

The present Church Secretary, Mr. Thambu George Thukalan is the great grandson of the bother of the late lay trustee.
