A common guideline for conducting the marriage between Catholics and Jacobites will be released soon.

The guidelines will be including the memorandum signed by the Pope of Roman Catholic Church and Patriarch of Syrian Orthodox Church. The guidelines will be issued to the priests of both Churches, as many of them are unaware of the laws concerning the inter-Church marriage.

The Ecumenical Commission conducted at Manganam, has authorized Dr. Kuriakose Mor Theophilos, the Resident Metropolitan of Udayagiri Seminary of Jacobite Church and Rev. Dr. Xavier Koodappuzha of Catholic Church, to formulate the guidelines.

There were complaints from both sides that even after the laws came into effect, many priests are not willing to abide with it and many are against such marriages. The memorandum agreed by both Prelates cover the sacraments of Holy Quarbana, Baptism and Marriage. Discussions are at the final stage in matters of common Holy Quarbana and participating in Services.

"Bishops are the links between the Regional Churches and the Universal Churches. Roman Church and the Jacobite Church are unions of the regional churches. Bishops are the chain links of the apostolic succession." Says the joint communiqu.

"As per the Bible and the Creed, Jesus has given special position to St. Peter. He was called Kefa and Jesus appointed him as head of the twelve disciples. The successors of St. Peter are being appointed as the leaders for ecumenical unity among the Universal Churches. The reestablishment of the powers of St. Peter is the prime concern of today." The communiqu continued.

As there are only minor variations in the dogmas of both Churches, the ecumenical commission agreed to pursue more on joint fellowship.
