Re: History, Dn. George
- Dear Dn. George
You stated: "History also tells us that there were
relgious attacks by various groups. Help was sought
from the Antioch and was rendered. They helped the
Indian Church to reorganize and become 'alive' again.
And, the Indian Church was truly thankful and appreciative.
But, does that mean that the Indian Church has to lose its
authenticity and submit itself to the SOC?"
If an independent Indian Church as you claimed existed
before these attacks, why is it that this Indian Church
uses the same exact sunday liturgy, the same order for the
sacraments, the same vestements, the same church vesseles
etc..(EVERYTHING IS IDENTICAL!) as the Syriac Church. Even
through these 'attacks', wouldn't something(as far as a
liturgy, oral traditions, books, or for that matter ANYTHING
AT ALL) have remained. Would the Indian Church, all of a
sudden throw away Her native identity which was formed over
1600 years, and accept everything that is of the FOREIGN SYRIAC
church and make such a drastic change after "receiving help
from Antioch". This does not make sense to me.
