      Dear Members

In the name of Secularism, we cannot perform all our national
programs - Onam, Vishu, Pooja, Dasserah and most of the national
festivals Idol worship is very visible. Yesterdays Deepika.com
reported the Vidyarambham at the Kangarappady St: George Jacobite
Church and also the Cheraman Masjid of Kodungalloor performing
      the same.

Seeking the blessing of a priest is not wrong but to insist
Vidyarambham or any auspicious functions on a particular date
and a particular hour its absolutely wrong.

Why don't we discuss about this matter positively ?

May I suggest that Our Church should have a high ranking religious
committee ( similar to the Muslim Fatwah Committee ) to discuss
and issue directives on the issues true faith of our church ?
It is not fair for the common people to say any opinion about
matters of the true faith and it was never a practice of our
      Church for ages.

We are performing this on almost all Sundays in our Older Churches
      - I have seen a ceremony called "Ezhithiniruthu" - The Priest in
Charge will help the child to start his academic study at the
church after the Holy Mass - this is conducted on almost all
Sundays - especially in the new school year period. I dont think
it is a wrong practice on the other hand we sow a seed in the
heart of the child that everything should be started in the name
of God. The only thing is that we should not restrict these
auspicious functions according to any Hindu calendars.

When Bible, especially the Epistles of St: Paul very specifically
tell that a Christian should not go to any sort of sorceries or
performers of black magic, palmistry, fortune tellers, or those
who fix good dates and times ( many of our people still follow
Raahu kaalam for marriages and house warming)

The Holy Church have to become bolder in issuing instructions
against all these. We feel that it is better to educate our
people in the light of Holy Bible than to issue ban orders.

Dear members please come up with constructive criticism

In the Everlasting Love of our Lord
      Yours truly,
