Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?
- Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? (KJV)
Why not a Monad instead of a Trinity?
Few months back I was at a friends house in Hartford, Connecticut. One Jehovah s Witness called the house and started preaching. My friend handed the phone over to me.
What do you think of Jesus? I asked. She said Jesus is the son of God; God created Jesus.
So; Was there a time in the beginning when there existed only God the Father? Yes; she said. (This is the hearsay of Arius).
So; Do you think God is love? Yes; she said. If so, then whom did He love in the beginning? She fumbled and said the universe. Who created the universe? God; she said. Was there a time before the universe was created? Yes; she said. Whom did He love before creating the universe? She did not answer. So; are you saying that your God acquired this quality in course of time and God was not love in the beginning? Then God needs a teacher to teach Him this character of love! Dont he? I asked. Love needs at least three persons to be perfect. To love each other is not complete because there is no sharing. So; in the Trinity we see loving each other and sharing of love in between. We find unity in diversity and community in the Trinity only.
The creation of humans was together; Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, (gen 1:26)
The punishment of Babel was together; Come, let us go down and confuse (Gen 11:7).
God the father addresses God the Son as God; Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom (Ps 45:6)
But about the Son he says, Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.(heb 1:8).
In Luke it says Un to us a child is born, un to us a son is given The son was not born in Bethlehem. The son was given to us in Bethlehem. The son eternally existed.
