- WHITE PLAINS ST.MARY'S CHURCH OBSERVES EIGHT DAY LENT AND THE 16TH DUKHRONO OF LATE LAMENTED CATHOLICOSE OF THE EAST, MOR BASELIOS PAULOSE II
The never shrivelled source of blessings, ever virgin St.Mary, Mother of God in whose preious name the White plains Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church is established in New York and known for the last three decades. The famous annual Perunnal of the church,the 'Ettu Nombu Perunnal' in conjunction with the birthday of Mother of God is attended by hundreds of faithful in fasting & prayers every year. They know that their prayers are not in vain once they reach this holy place,the ever presence of the holy Mother.
The White Plains St.Mary's Church is observing the 'Ettu Nombu'(eight days lent) from Saturday, Sept.1st through Saturday,Sept.08, 2012. The dukhrono of the late lamented Catholicose of the East, Mor Baselios Paulose II will also be comemmorated on Sept.1st, the 16th anniversary date of departure of His Beatitude. His Eminence Mor Titus Yeldho, the Archbishop & Patriarchal Vicar of the American Archdiocese will be leading the con-celebration of the Holy Eucharist on the final day, Saturday,Sept.8th, of the perunnal.
This year's perunnal is sponsored by every family of this famous church. On behlf of the St.Mary's family of White Plains, Rev.Fr.Varghese Paul(Vicar) and the Board of Trustees are inviting all faithful in and around New York to this great event.
