Reports of SYRIAC MANUSCRIPTS Seized and Destroyed by Turkish Soldiers in 1944.In today's program (08/30/2012) on Suryoyo SAT concerning the monastery of Mor Augin (Tur Abdin) it was reported that in 1944, Turkish soldiers plundered the monastery library, taking away all the precious Syriac manuscripts (for destruction). A monastery employee could only take a few of them later from a Moslem village. The rest were probably destroyed forever. This was reported by the nephew of the abbot Dayroyo Lahdo (monk and abbot of the monastery from 1910-1968). the aforementioned events happened at the same time. Such also happened with the library of the monastery of Mor Kuryakos in Besheriye (in Batman).
