Rev. Fr. P.P Abraham Puthenkalathil (60), Veliyanad , a senior priest of the Syrian Knanaya Archdiocese, passed on to the heavenly abode on Saturday the 21st of April 2012.
His Grace Kuriakose Mor Gregorios, the Regional Metropolitan of Kallissery Meghala of the Knanaya Archdioces is the nephew of the deceased and his grand father the late Mr. P.P. Kurian was one of the founding fathers of St. Mary’s Bethelahem Knanaya church. He leaves his

Children: Rakhee, Reenu, Ritu, Punnoose, Kuruvilla.
Sons - in - Law : Biju Isac, Kavanal (Muscat), Elias Zachariah, Edavazhikal, (Kottayam).

Puthenkalathil Achen dedicated his life to religious ministry and served the Knanaya Archdiocese for the last 33 years with dignity and pride as a Knanaya priest at various churches including St. Mary’s Bethelahem Pally, Veliyanadu, his mother church. He was currently serving as the Vicar of St. George’s church in Mampuzhakkary as its Vicar. This church was scheduled for a major rebuilding project under Achen’s able leadership. The stone laying ceremony was to take place right after the Pally Perunal in two days. He also served as Vicar at many churches for many terms. Following are some of the churches he served.
Veliyanadu St. Stephen’s, Kottayam Valiyapally, Mulackanthuruthy Pally, Velloothuruthy Pally, Kavalam Pally, Mannar Pally.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday 25th at St. Mary's Bethelahem Church Veliyanad. Funeral Services will start with prayer at Puthenkalathil house in the morning at 8 AM followed by ‘Nagari Kanickal’ (processions to various churches) stopping first at St. Stephen’s Valiapally then going on to Mapuzhakkary St. George’s Pally and ending at St. Mary’s Bethelahem Pally (about 11 AM) for burial.
