DR.E.C.ABRAHAM (Malankara Archdiocese in USA) to the Order of COMMANDER
- GEORGIA:His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka 1st I was , the Supreme Head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church has delivered an Apostolic Bull to decorate Dr.E.C.Abraham to the order of " COMMANDER" in considering the outstanding performance and various contributions of Dr.E.C.Abraham (Malankara Archdiocese in USA)in church/medical/social and charity fields. Dr.Edathara Chacko Abraham(Dr.E.C.Abraham) one of the famous Malayali Medical Professional in North America has been serving the Holy Church as the Chief Eexcutive Medical Officer of St.Ephrem Syrian Orthodox Medical Mission and also the Senior Professor of University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences .The COMMANDER induction ceremony will take place at St.Marys Syriac Orthodox Church in Augusta, Georgia on Sunday January 1st,2012 after the Holy Qurbono celebrated by His Eminence Mor Titus Yeldho Metropolitan, the Archbishop and Patriarchal Vicar of Malankara Archdiocese in USA and assisted by V.Rev.Mathew Thomas Edathara Corepiscopo, the Vicar and Clergy Secretary of Malankara Archdiocese. A grand luncheon reception will be followed at the Patridge Inn, the Grand Hotel of the Classic South of August, Georgia.
Dr.E.C.Abraham started his career as a junior lecturer in Mor Athanasius College, Kothamangalam.Later he joined and served six years at Christian Medical College(CMC) Hospital in Vellore as a Clinical Biochemist.During that period along with Dr.P.Koshy, the most famous physician in Vellore Dr.E.C.Abraham took the initiative to start Syrian Orthodox service and served as altar assistant.His experience in Vellore CMC led to a scholarship offer from the University of Louisville(Kentucky) College of Medicine for the sake of completing doctoral education.After successfully completing the course he had accepted a faculty position in Medical College of Georgia in Augusta,GA, and later appointed as the fulltime professor.During that period he had organized all malayali families resided at Atlanta and started a worship on a regular basis, later this fellowship led to the formation of St.Marys Syrian Orthodox Church in Augusta.
His long years of experience in CMC and other medical institutions in USA prompted him to work towards establishing a Medical Mission in the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church under the Holy Apostolic See of Antioch and All the East which was officially inaugurated by His Holiness.His Holiness appointed him as the Chief Executive Medical Officer of the Medical Mission.Besides his contributions to the growth of Syrian Orthodox Congregation in the state of Georgia, Dr.Edathara served several times as Council Member in Malankara Archdiocese.
DR.Edathara Chacko Abraham, son of Late Chacko Thomas and Annamma Chacko has been a permanent member of St.Adai Jacobite Church,Nalunnackal of Kottayam Diocese.Late Rev.Fr.Jesus Edathara was his uncle and Late Rev.Fr.Jacob Edathara was his first cousin. V.Rev.Mathew Thomas Corepiscopo(USA) is his nephew.Mrs.Amminikutty Abraham(belongs to Ennacheril Family Vakathanam)is his beloved wife and Dr.Jacob Abraham(Arkansas), Dr.Mini Panicker(Baltimore) ,Dr.James Abraham(Atlanta) are his three childrens , Mrs.Anitha Abraham,Mr.Jacob Panicker,Mrs.Cherry Abraham are in laws and Jeena,Justin,Jona,Meera ,Sara are grand childrens.
