his delight is in the law of the LORD
- his delight is in the law of the LORD
Psalm 1: 1-3: Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
As the roots of that tree go deep
Into the quiet, unseen regions of water,
May our thoughts and secret prayers go deep, Lord,
Into the hidden regions of life: in your Word, by your Spirit.
Let us meditate and delight in your Word day and night.
Let us not desire to listen to the words of the ungodly, Lord,
Let us avoid the ways of evil men, Prov. 4:14-15,
Let not any proud or scornful thought settle in our heart, Lord;
These would hinder us from delighting in your Word.
May the Spirit constantly draw our heart to your Word. Amen.
the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, of the scornful this separation (from the world; worldly people; worldly literature; sin) is necessary if we are to delight in God's Word: not mere study, but delight is in the law of the LORD implies obedience], and in His law he meditates day and night [day and night implies our heart being bonded to God's Word.] Is love of the world hindering us, Lord?
Thankful for your prayers,
