John 19:17-18: And He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, 1where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center.
Luke 23:26: Now as they led Him away, they laid hold of a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, who was coming from the country, and on him they laid the cross that he might bear it after Jesus.
[Simon walked behind Jesus bearing the cross. What a great privilege had!]
The cross Oh for a glimpse of the cross, Lord!
Grant us, dear Lord Jesus, a glimpse of the cross:
Of the love that throbbed in our heart
As we walked that Friday morning bearing the cross -
Letus love you as you loved me, Lord,
Letus love others as you loved me.
Maywe loveour cross in my daily trials, Lord,
And be thankful for our cross.
May we see ourself identified with that blessed Simon
Who for a while bore your cross,
And walked behind you. Amen.
