STANDING CONFERENCE OF THE ORIENTAL ORTHODOX CHURCHES IN AMERICA HELD.
- NEW YORK: The Autumn 2010 meeting of the Standing Conference of the Oriental Orthodox Churches in America covened at St.Nersess Armenian Seminary in NewRochelle, NewYork on Thursday,October 7th. Their Eminences Archbishop Mor Titus Yeldho (Malankara Archdiocese ) and Archbishop Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim Koorilos (Eastern Archdiocese) were represented Syriac Orthodox Church in the Conference. Among the other Church leaders present were Their Eminences Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Archbishop Yeghishe Gizirian, Archbishop Vicken Aykazian and Archbishop Abune Zekarias. V.Rev.Fr.John Meno and Rev.Fr.Joseph Chamoun, both of the Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church for the Eastern United States, were also in attendance. Among the issued discussed were the youth of the Oriental Orthodox Churches,the Standing Conference Website,The joint commission of the Eastern/Oriental Orthodox Churches,the annual Eastern /Oriental Orthodox UN Prayer Service, Christian Churches Together, Oriental Orthodox Sunday School relationships, the Roman Catholic / Oriental Orthodox United States Consultation, the International Roman Catholic / Oriental Orthodox Dialogue and the yearly Oriental Orthodox Concelebrated Liturgy.
During and after lunch, participants shared news from the sister Churches. It was agreed that the Spiring 2011 meeting of the Standing Conference will be held on March 10th of the coming year.The churches in Oriental Orthodox Family ,viz.Syriac Orthodox Church,Armenian Orthodox Church,Coptic Orthodox Church,Ethiopian Orthodox Church and Eritrean Orthodox Church are the members of the conference.
