        A delegation from University of Agder, Norway visits His Holiness, the Patriarch.

        MA`ARAT SAYYIDNAYA, DAMASCUS: A delegation comprising professors and students from the Department of history and religious studies of University of Agder visited His Holiness Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I Iwas at St. Ephraim's Patriarchal Monastery here on March 07, Sunday. His Holiness briefed about the theology, history and tradition of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church world wide. The delegation was curious to know more about the Syriac Orthodox Church in India and His Holiness briefed about the church in India too.

        His Holiness described them abut the hymns of St. Ephraim, the Syrian. The delegation visited Monastery as a part of their curriculum. University of Agder is one of the largest institutions for higher learning in Norway.

        PATHANAMTHITTA: Vanitha Samajam camp of Kollam, Niranam, Thumpamon & Kottayam Dioceses held at St. Mary's JSO Cathedral Pathanamthitta. Metropolitan Mor Barnabas Geevarghese inaugurated the camp. Metropolitan Mor Theodosius Mathews, priests and lots of representatives of Women's League were present.

        Earlier, newly ordained metropolitan for spiritual organisations, Mor Barnabas Geevarghese was given a warm welcome at the cathedral.

        Archbishop Hilarion Capucci visits His Holiness, the Patriarch at Patriarchal Monastery.

        MA`ARAT SAYYIDNAYA, DAMASCUS: Archbishop Emeritus Hilarion Capucci of Caesarea in Palaestina dei Greco-Melkiti visited His Holiness the Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I Iwas at St. Ephraim Patriarchal Monastery here on March 06, Saturday. Archbishop was welcomed by His Eminence
        Mor Philoxenos Mathias Nayis, Patriarchal Assistant and Director of St. Ephraim's Seminary, Dayaroryos and others at the monastery. His Holiness and Archbishop discussed about many matters including the recent attack on the churches and mosques in Jerusalem by anti social elements. Holy Father and Archbishop called for security and stability in Iraq. They condemned on the attacks happened in Iraq, especially against Christians there. Holy Father presented Archbishop some books from H.H's collection which describe the history, tradition and culture of Syriac Orthodox Church. Archbishop thanked His Holiness and Syriac Orthodox Church for the warm welcome given to him at the monastery.

        Archbishop Hilarion Capucci was born on 02 March, 1922 and is the retired Archbishop Emeritus of Caesarea for the Melkite Greek Catholic Church. He was ordained a priest of the Basilian Aleppian (B.A) Order on 20 July, 1947. On 30 July, 1965 he was appointed archbishop and consecrated. During his time in office he was a fierce opponent of Israel, aligning himself with the Palestinians. The government of Sudan and Syria has honoured Archbishop Capucci with a postage stamp.

          of remembrance of Malphono Fr. Cherian Kottayil observed at St.Mary's JSO Church, here on March 26, Friday. Mor Gregorios Joseph, Metropolitan of Kochi Diocese led Holy Tri Mass. A remembrance meeting was held at the church after the Holy Qurbono. Metropolitans offered Dhoopa Prarthana at the tomb after the Holy Qurbono.

          JSVBS held at St. George JSO Simhasana Church, Al Ain, UAE

          AL AIN: JSVBS 2010 classes at St. George's JSO Simhasana Church in
          Al Ain, United Arab Emirates was Started from 19th March 2010. JSVBS 2010 started with an opening prayer by the Vicar (Rev.Fr.Mathew Karimpanackal). JSVBS inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Paulose Parekkara. The theme of this VBS is “Be Ready” St.Luke 12:40. In the Inaugural speech, Rev. Fr. Paulose Parekkara gave the message “you must be prepared to meet God face-to-face and ready for eternity with Holiness". JSVBS classes were led by the Rev. Fr. Mathew Karimpanackal and experienced Sunday School Teachers. The VBS had different sessions of religious discourse. One day Rev.Fr.Philip Vaidyan of our Mumbai diocese conducted a Singing session. Rev. Fr. Zachariah Alexander (Student chaplain of UAE, Mar Thoma Church) also delivered the religious discourse. VBS team organized a wonderful picnic on 25th Thursday. Fr. Mathew Karimpanackal, Managing Committee
          members, and lot of parents along with the dedicated team of Sunday school teachers has done a marvellous work to make this event a grand success. VBS finished on Friday, 26th March 2010 with activities like Songs, Skit and a colourful rally around Church by the students and teachers. The concluding session was Presided by Our Vicar Rev. Fr. Mathew Karimpanackal and inaugurated by Rev Fr Augustin Fernades (Assistant vicar of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Al Ain-UAE). Colorful presentations by the Children has become an integral part of this session. Felicitation speeches were delivered by Commander Oommen Varghese, Chevalier Peter Cherian and Mr. James Varghese (Sunday School Head Master).

            Archbishop Mor Gregorios Youhanna Ibrahim represented Universal Syriac Orthodox Church.

            CHICAGO: The consultation of Global Christian Forum 2010 concluded
            at the Head Quarters of Lutheran Church here on June 17, Thursday. Archbishop of Aleppo Mor Gregorios Youhanna Ibrahim represented Universal Syriac Orthodox Church. Mor Gregorios ids the founder member of GCF. Mor Gregorios Youhanna Ibrahim in his widely accepted presentation described about the role of Orthodox Churches in Middle East, especially in Syria and Iraq. His Eminence also described about the newly formed Council of Churches in Middle East in the unity of Christians. The meeting decided to conduct the next consultation in 2011 at Indonesia. The Secretary General of GCF, Hubert Van Beek presided over. In 2008, the consultation of GCF was conducted in New Delhi, India.

              THIRUVALLA: Metropolitan Dr. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese inaugurated the Students' Meet organised by Students' Christian Movement of India(SCMI), Kerala Region, Central Zone at Marthoma College here. Dr. Coorilos is the current national president of SCMI. Kerala Region Chairman, Prof. Alexander K Samuel (Principal, St. Thomas College,
              Kozhencherry) presided over. Prof. Kurian John (Principal, Marthoma College), Prof. George Mathew, Lijin Golden, Naithik Eapen Mathew, Rijo Mathew Joy, Ann Mariyam Tharakan, Ancy R, Praise Susan George, Jijo John Varghese, Neethu Susan John, Mahima A Varghese spoke on the occasion.               works as the Joint Secretary, JSCYA, Kollam Diocese ,Treasurer Thekkan Mekhala Manjanikkara Padayathra Sanghom and one off the council members of Kollam Diocese. Minister for Education M.A. Baby announced the awards on Friday.

              The award committee comprised the Principal Secretary, Higher Education as chairman and the Director of Collegiate Education, Executive Director, Information Kerala Mission, member-secretary,
              Higher Education Council, Head, NSS regional centre and coordinator, Training and Orientation Centre.

              NSS State liaison officer Anitha Sankar said the awards would be given away at a function to be held at the Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram on July 31. M A Baby is scheduled to hand over the awards to the winners.

                SOHAR, SULTANATE OF OMAN: Holy Qurbono was celebrated at Sohar Jacobite Syrian Church on Friday, the 16th July, 2010 by the Parish Metropolitan Mor Eusebius Kuriakose on His Grace’s visit to the Sultanate of Oman. Vicar Rev. Fr. Alias Ipe assisted. Many members
