ALUVA: The Jacobite Church is ready to co-operate with Orthodox
Church to restore perpetual peace in the Church in New Year, Jacobite
Church spokesperson Fr Varghese Kallappara said here on Thursday.
He urged the Catholicos Mathews II of Orthodox Church to take the
efforts of the Government and other mediators in good spirit.
The Jacobite Church would continue to co-operate with the efforts of
the Government for settling the issues without any prejudice or pre-
condition, Kallappara added.
"We look forward for a permanent settlement of the Church disputes,
even after losing assets heavily. But we cannot sacrifice the faith
and traditions. The aim of establishing the Parish church should be
protected. The government should do justice to the parishioners, the
actual owners of Parish churches. The majority opinion of the
parishioners should be protected in a democratic way," Kallappara
The negative attitude taken by the Orthodox Church leaders during the
discussion with Vayalar Ravi in Aluva Palace on December 24 will only
harm the peace process, he added.
