      Chennai Diocese of Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church has come into force

      Chennai Diocese of Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church has come into force. Official announcement on the formation of Chennai Diocese which includes Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh, was made during the first Diocesan Council meeting held under the chairmanship of H.B Catholicose Dr. Baselios Thomas I, on 22 November 2009 in Chennai. His Grace Dr. Mor Clemis Kuriakose graced the occasion. Idukki Diocese Metropolitan H.G Dr. Mor Clemis Kuriakose will hold additional charges of the newly formed Chennai Diocese. The first Council meeting was attended by representatives from Jacobite churches in Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh.

      `Abhayam’ – Paliative Care Centre for Cancer patients consecrated

      H.B Catholicose Dr. Baselios Thomas I consecrated `Abhayam’ – Palliative Care Centre for Cancer patients, a unit of St. Thomas Charitable Trust under the patronage of St. Thomas JSO Church, Annanagar, Chennai, in Shanthibhavan, Sholavaram in the outskirts of Chennai City and H.G. Dr. Mor Clemis Kuriakose Metropolitan graced the occasion. Later Metropolitans visited inmates of Shanthibhavan, a destitute home for aged run by the Trust.
