KOCHI: The working committee of the Jacobite Syrian Church, met at
the Patriarch Centre in Puthencruz on Wednesday, and reaffirmed its
resolve to protect its faith in the spiritual supremacy of the
      Patriarch.
The working committee meeting, according to a statement issued by
Catholicos Baselios Thomas I, the supreme head of the Jacobite
faction, wanted the Government to ensure that the sentiments of the
parishioners were not hurt while taking decisions regarding control
      of the parish churches.
Although the meeting expressed satisfaction over the recent decisions
of the cabinet sub-committee, it also voiced its concern over the
Orthodox faction's alleged move to distort the cabinet-panel's
      decision.
In a separate statement, the official spokesman of the church, Fr
Varghese Kallappara, urged the Government and the cabinet sub-
committee to initiate immediate steps for a final settlement of the
      issue.
