Re: Doubt - Regarding the Simhasana churches
- Dear all,
All most all parishes of Malankara Church have general body and managing committee. The temporal matters are decided by the General body. In Simhasana Churches either there is a constitutional provision regarding the management for each church or an advisory board is appointed by the Patriarch or the Bishop concerned as the case may be. These churches are never party to 1934 constitution or 2002 constitution. These churces are not affiliated to Dioceses of Malankara Church. They have registered deeds which specifically mention that the property is vested in the Throne of Antioch and the possession of which is handed over to the Delegate of the Holy See or to the bishop appointed for the purpose of management of the Simahasana Churches. I hope the clarification is self explanatory. This position of Simhasan church is upheld by the apex court of India in its verdict in 1995 which was upheld earlier in the District and High courts of Kerala earlier. Thus, the concurrent findings of these courts grant special status to the Simhasana churches.
