IOC could arrange only 170 persons at thrikkunnathu on 25th- Malayala Manorma confirms the number

      Dear all,

One more fellow has come up with an Eye Witness Account on the recent Thrikkunnathu episode in a Malankara Orthodox forum. Though his aim was the same as of others, some truths were also unknowingly written by him. He admits that Malankara Orthodox members (?)attended there were very few. He also thanked his Church secretary George Joseph for bringing 'faithful' from Thumpamon. The same fellow while thanking his Church's 'visawasikal' for coming from different places of kerala, at the same time expressed his dissatisfaction over the very few representation from their Vadakken dioceses.

Actually this is exactly what we are also saying, but then the rival faction was questioning us. From the live report of this Malankara Orthodox member, it is very clear that most who were at thrikkunnathu seminary on 25th were from Thumpamon, a stronghold of Malankara Orthodox Church where very very few people of that Church have ever heard of Valia Thirumeni. So naturally if the majority present at Thrikkunnathu seminary on 25th were from thumpamon, then there is no doubt that they came with other motives and they were not 'ordinary' faithful, a fact which the Jacobites has been highlighting. This is particularly true if we look into the way in which these people behaved and shouted against police as well as our people and priests and bishops.

As I mentioned on 25th, two tourist buses from South kerala were seen parked at Seminary compounds early morning itself which was not seen previous evening. Two tourists buses means around 100 people.

It was really a pleasant surprise to read Malayala Manorma on 26th morning which explains the events that happened at thrikkunnathu. As per Manorma's report there were around 150 people in the seminary chapel and compound together along with Malankara Orthodox bishops and another 20 were at the Kabaridam of Theophilios Thirumnei. So altogether there was only 170 people (including priests and bishops) of Malankara Orthodox faction at Thrikkunnathu on 25th January as per Manorama's report itself.

It is really an astounding thing that only 170 people (including priests and bishops) came to Thrikkunnathu even when Malankara Orthodox faction boasts that they have a membership of 25 lakhs + .

So what does this mean? Irrespective of all this Malankara Orthodox faction still bothers to claim that 3 of our bishops buried at thrikkunnathu were actually Malankara Orthodox bishops. If they were the pets of Malankara Orthodox Church as claimed by them, why only 170, (of which 100 were from thumpamon) out of their claimed 25 lakhs, came during the memorial day of the late Metropolitans? Now compare this with the number of believers from the Jacobite side who came there to pray at the Kabaridams. Most of the media persons reported that around 10,000 Jacobites came there irrespective of the tension prevailing there. More than this number of 10000, it was the larger presence of women, particularly the aged and also young, which shows whose kabaridams are located at thrikkunnath pally. Compare this with that of Malankara Orthodox sect which brought not more than 170 people and that too from outside the Vadkken belt. No women was also not in their camp. Anyone with a common sense could understand why this happens to IOC every year.

It always remains a fact that Malankara Orthodox Church has no interest in observing the memories of Metropolitans at thrikkunnath. They conduct a perunnal at thrikkunnath just for the sake of it; the only motive behind conducting a perunnal on January 25th and 26th every year is to block any possible claims by the Jacobites. Beyond that, MOC has no interest for Thrikkunnath Kabaridams.

John Varghese who gave the Eye Witness account is also adding that on 26th morning their Niyuktha Catholica celebrated Holy Eucharist without any tension at all. Certainly he has mentioned it here to just show that everything will be smooth if the Jacobites don't create any trouble. But again unknowingly John Varughese is telling to the world that the Jacobites are not the real problem creators. What Jacobites wanted is the permission to offer prayers at kabaridams by their bava, bishps, Priests and people, at the tomb of the metropolitans including that of Valiya Thirumeni who was the head of the Jacobite Church for about 40 years.

It is because of our sentimental attachment to the pally that our bava tirumeni has requested for permission to offer Holy Qurbana there during every Sundays or atleast during the annual orma perunnal. Bava tirumeni doesn't mind to give permission for the Malankara Orthodox faction also to offer Holy Mass at different timings on the same day. Bava tirumeni believes that this is the best and the easiest way to reduce the enmity between both the Churches until one day everything becomes normal and smooth.

The sharing formula adopted between Malankara Orthodox and Marthoma Syrian Churches in atleast three churches including the Old Syrian church at Chengannoor, is an apt example to show that everything will be solved in matter of time provided both parties have a will. If this sharing formula can be accepted by those two with very different faith, why can't the Jacobites and Malankara Orthodox share the same churches and make that place of God open forever. This has been mentioned here in this forum itself by many authors earlier. There is no doubt that it is a better option than continue fighting.

Instead of limiting this sharing formula to only one church, why don't
we apply this to all disputed churches. Let us apply this to any
churches under Orhtodox hold and Jacobite hold.

        Regards
