THAMUKKU PERUNNAL AT KARINGACHIRA PALLY
- Karingachira St: Geroge Cathedral Celebrates the famous Thamukku perunnal( Malayalam date - Vrischikam 20th ) on 2nd and 3nd Dec 2007 - fallsexactly 2 months after the Kanni 20 Perunnal ( Nov 2nd & 3rd ) at KothamangalamCheria Pally.
Perunnal programmes are lead by HG Joseph Mor Gregorious, HG Aliyas MorAthanasius and HG Yuhanon Mor Militius.
This Perunnal is celebrated in comemmoration of the establishment of theholy (physical) remains of St: Basalios Eldho Bawa at this blessed church.
It takes us to the very holy traditional story of "Thamukku" taken bymembers of this famous Church to Mor Baselios Bawa during his few days he spent atKothamangalam Cheria Pally. Bawa was liked the refreshment very much and blessed them.
Thamukku (a sweet light food, very popular in Kerala, made of ripe bananacut into small peices and mixed with rice powder (toasted) and jaggery. Many churches in Malakara and Middle East celebrate the dukharono (perunnal) of Mor Baselios Bawa and Tamukku is the Nercha.
