Court declines to pass order in Manarcaud church case
      - -
Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Thursday declined to issue an
interim order to permit the Catholicos of the Malankara Orthodox
Syrian Church Mar Basalius Marthoma Mathews-II to enter the Manarcaud
St Mary's Church and conduct religious services.

A division bench of the court, headed by Chief Justice B.N.
Sreekrishna, was of the view that the interim order was not possible
in the case as the Jacobite faction which claims administrative
control of the Manarcuad church had vehemently opposed the court
suggestion for a consensus in allowing the Metropolitan of the
Malankara Orthodox Syrian faction to conduct religious ceremonies in
      the Manarcaud church.

The Orthodox faction had yesterday sought police protection to enter
the Manarcaud church to conduct religious rituals.

The case was posted to September 3 for final hearing.
