KOCHI: A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Wednesday opined that a
working arrangement should be evolved for the conduct of the "Ettunoyambu
Tirunal" of St Mary's Church, Manarcad, Kottayam, where the Orthodox faction of
the Malankara Church has announced its plans to make a forceful entry into the
      church to offer prayers.

The church is being administered by the Jacobite faction.

The court has asked the counsel for both the factions to submit their proposals
regarding the working arrangement on Thursday.

This oral expression of opinion was made by the Bench while hearing arguments
on a writ petition filed by the Catholicos and other metropolitans of the
      Orthodox faction.

The writ petition seeks to direct the State Government and the police
authorities to give effective police protection to them to enter the 1,150
churches and other institutions and exercise their rights, duties and
privileges in their capacity as Catholicos/bishops/priests, without any
obstruction from Thomas Mar Dionysius (Catholicos Baselios Thomas I) and other
      metropolitans of the Jacobite faction.
