- From Liptovska Porubka: Great-grandmother Rose RACHEL, married to Martin
KLINKA and emigrated to Bridgeport, CT after 1904 with four children. One
child, Rudolf, rejected at port and sent back to Slovakia where he married
and had four sons. Probably still some KLINKA relatives in Bratislava.
Rose RACHEL KLINKA was widowed in America and married Joseph DUBAK whose
mother was a CAPKO. I don't know his ancestral village at this time.
From C~akanovce in Abov: Great-grandparents Janos and Borbala VANGOR, and
other VANGOR relatives who were in the area since the late 18th century. A
local family named SAMKO adopts the surname VANGOR around 1833 for some
reason presently unknown to me. Borbala (Barbara) VANGOR'S maiden name was
FEDOR, FEDORIK, or FEDORYAK. Great-grands emigrated probably in 1913-14 to
Other VANGOR branches seem to have emigrated earlier to Ohio. Three or more
VANGORS have just turned up in the area of Nanaimo, British Columbia, in the
1890's. They were connected to the HIRKALA, GIBA, and MAYOVSKY families
there. (Thanks to fellow lister Kate Cullinane here!)
Other family in-laws in America include S~UPALA, CHONKO, and FABRY.
Most of the family was Lutheran.
