Am quite familiar with Brownsville PA Fayette Co and
adjoining Westmoreland Co bituminous (soft) coal mining
      region in SW PA.

Spent a year at a regional National Archives and Records
Admin Center (NARA) researching Slavic names from
1900/1910/1920 US Census enumeration microfilms for this region.
There were both Carpatho-rusyn and Ukrainian surnames.
But no longer can remember all the surnames.

Have also translated American G.C. and Russian Orthodox
      church documents to English.

My best guess is that your Bukovena was actually
Bukovina , the eastern most Kröneland (province) of the
      former Austrian Empire.
