Kurimka is a village and municipality in Svidník District in the
Preov Region of north-eastern Slovakia. Currently
Kríe is a village and municipality in Bardejov District in the
Preov Region of north-east Slovakia. Currently
Michael Sr. immigrated from Kurimka 1893 leaving his pregnant wife back
in the village. He died soon after his arrival to the Hazleton,Pa.
Kupecz Mihaly died in Harleton by "eroszakos halal" = violent death. The
note is: "A belugyminiszterium f. e. 93.624 sz. atviabu??? alapjan
iratott be illegible signature" - recorded based on note of Ministry of
Interior No 93.624
Within a year of his death his wife Helen dies leaving newly born George
and Brother Michal Kupecz an orphan.
An older sister Anna born 1887 marries Janos Baran in Kurimka 1894.

Died of "Foldbeomlas altal agyonutve" = killed by landslide
Note: "hatosagi engedelyel eltemetve" = buried with permission of
authorities (maybe coroner)
George is raised by an Aunt (Helen Baran and possibly Sister Anna of
Kurimka) and immigrates himself along with cousin Ann Kupecz in 1911 to
Bear Creek/Hazleton PA. to live with his older brother Michael born
Michael it is presumed to have immigrated to the Hazleton area a year or
two before George.
Online passenger list searches find dozens of villagers from Kurimka
with a destination of Hazleton and the surrounding area.
George finds his way to Cleveland,Oh and in 1916 marries Anne Mohnacki
of Krizse Slovakia. Has a family and dies an early death himself in 1935
at age 42. Burried at Holy Ghost/Spirit Cemetery. Parma , Ohio.
Michael was known to have visited George once in Cleveland possibly in
the early 30's as his niece remembers one visit from her Uncle.
He left to where he came from.....
