Re: [S-R] Re:Immigration Papers "Phillip"
- Hi Phillip,
I have sent off now to homeland security about six times total. they will always respond as soon as they get your request with the card stating that they received it. I have never seen anywhere where you would request a legible copy, they just do the best they can. I was told when I called them last week that my film was really hard to see so that is why the copy was so bad but they would try to get me a better one. I don't think requesting a good copy would make any difference. they are so backlogged as you know. Just hope for the best and hopefully you will have better luck. All of the previous copies I have received in the past have been good ones but just the wrong people. Yes it figures.
Well good luck and hope for the best.

I am not sure what dates this may apply to, but not all
naturalizations were perfromed in Federal Courts. Your ancestor may
have been naturalized in a state or county court. If you know the
approximate date and where he was naturalized, you can write to the
clerk of the court. I was fortunate enough to get my g-grandfather's
papers from the county clerk in Warren County, NJ. Good copy quality
too, though I amiagine that this may depend on the copier quality and
