- In 1930 there was a John H Pekar (age 30) from Czechoslovakia in the
his cousin in Bridgeport. The cousin's name appears to be John (age 31), as
there is a John, Jr in the family. The cousin's wife was Carlotta (age 27).
also a Joseph (age 26) in the household listed as a cousin from
Czechoslovakia, as well. In fact the entire household was Czech and spoke
Slovak. John H and Joseph are indicated to have arrived in 1921. They were
working in a "machine factory."
There was also a John Pekar (age 32) with wife Anna (age 24) and children
Stephen (8) and John (2) in Bridgeport. It says John was born in CT of Czech
parents. Anna was Czech, as were her parents.
There were other Pekars in Bridgeport at that time.
Coincidentally, the same year, there was a John Pekar (age 29) in IL with
wife Marie and three children. This John is listed as born in IL of Polish
