Zipov is near to Presov. Most likely if the family were Greek Catholic they would have been in an associated parish of the Presov one. Therefore you would have to look through the Greek Catholic records of Presov. NB the name Zipov did not exist in the late 1880’s, so use look for the name associated with that time period.

I believe you are correct, I didn't know that. Now I have to research the difference between Greek Catholic and Orthodox.

      Thank you

I was able to find marriage & death records from the US church where my husband's grandparents attended. They even did it for free, although I did send them a donation. I've also received church records from the Pittsburgh Diocese for Roman Catholics. They do have a form for you to fill out and I believe it's $20.00/hour but I exactly remember now.

I'll assume my grandmother listed "Zipov" as his place of birth based on geography in 1924 (when she married). Unfortunately, he never applied for citizenship so I can't get any info from that avenue. I'm still hoping he was married here in the states and I'm able to find those records. Thus far, no success finding marriage records in Allegheny County (where he and Anna lived), or surrounding counties. So far, he's been a tough nut to crack.
