34443Re: [S-R] Ship Record
- Oct 2, 2012Ellis Island didn’t open until 1892. That means an 1887 arrival would have to be through Castle Gardens. A name search came up with what I sent previously. I looked at all ships arriving during November, 1887 in New York, there were no arrivals on November 24th.
With a discrepancy from 1887 by word of mouth to 1904 in the records, you may have to come up with some other records where Alexander listed his arrival.

Subject: [S-R] Ship Record
We need some help! We have been looking for a ship record for a relative since 2006 with no luck. We recently received a nationalization record that givse a date of arrival in New York, but still we have not find the record. The person was an educated man -- a Greek Catholic cantor from Slovakia -- so we believe that his memory should be reliable. Any ideas?
NAME: Alexander Kozub
BIRTH: 14 September 1860 in Hungary
ARRIVAL: New York 24th November 1887
DATE OF RECORD: 28 October 1893
