Environmental Program Assistant
Part-Time Non-Benefited Position
20 Hours Per Week (999 hours per fiscal year maximum)
Salary $29.46/ per hour

The Environmental Programs Assistant provides support and technical assistance for development and implementation concerning the City's storm water or urban runoff pollution prevention program as it relates to the city's participation in the Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program. The position has responsibility for public information and education programs, events and campaigns. Will work with city staff on other aspects of the urban runoff program including but not limited to inspection, pesticide management and maintenance programs. Prepare and distribute educational outreach materials and press releases about these programs. Attend related countywide coordinating meetings. May assist with other environmental programs.
Examples of Duties:
Make presentations and provide training to City staff, businesses, schools and community groups. Perform research & prepare reports. Write materials for advertisements, news releases, newsletters, promotional events and other public information. Develop and implement public education and public information programs.

Experience and Education:
Two years of increasingly responsible experience in providing support staff assistance in a governmental agency assigned to storm-water/environmental programs and/or projects.
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in environmental science, business or public administration, or a related field.
Knowledge of principles and practices of stormwater pollution prevention and laws related to stormwater pollution prevention. Knowledge of public education and information programs and practices and the ability to plan, organize and execute these programs. Public contact skills, the ability to communicate and prepare written correspondence and other written materials are essential. Ability to use a personal computer.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver's license.
