      A full‑time position is available within the Department of

      Community and Economic Development, Division of

      Community Development. The City of South Bend is located in

      North Central Indiana, 90 miles east of Chicago and has a

      population of 107,789. Performs and assists with a wide range

      of neighborhood planning, including traditional land use planning,

      neighborhood capacity building, social planning activities, and

      project management all in support of the City's revitalization of

      neighborhoods and community. The position will require close

      working relationships with neighborhood residents, community

      organizations, agencies, other City departments and planning

      professionals. Proficiency is desired in managing and

      coordinating diverse groups in a complex public process, analysis

      of planning issues, graphic presentation, and written and oral

      presentation as well as working in a staff/board environment.

      The position requires graduation from an accredited four‑year

      college. Preference will be given in the following priority:

      (1) Master's degree in city, community or urban planning

      (2) graduation from an accredited undergraduate planning program

      (3)practical work experience planning or similar public or private
