Driving Towards Solutions: Tour of Affordable Housing in Santa Clara County - June 12th
- Despite the cooling of the economy, housing prices continue to climb
and Silicon Valley continues to lag in building homes that are affordable
to teachers, health care workers, service sector employees and others who
make up the fabric of our community. In fact, in Santa Clara County, 27% of
households can afford a median priced home while the national average
hovers at 59%.
Fortunately, Silicon Valley is home to several model affordable home
developments. Please join your fellow neighborhood leaders on a tour
of affordable housing to learn about various densities, building designs,
setbacks, landscaping, and parking ratios as well as examples of
integrating more compact affordable homes into existing neighborhoods. Learn how
to play a constructive role in shaping your neighborhoods while meeting
the need for more affordable homes.
