      VTA Light Rail Changes Beginning on May 24, 2004

      San Jose, Calif. - Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) will

      implement major adjustments to light rail routing and schedules beginning on

      May 24, 2004. The changes will affect all lines seven days a week. These

      changes are being implemented in preparation for the opening of the Tasman

      East/Capitol Light Rail Extension.

      Light Rail - Destination Changes

      Eastbound trains operating from Mountain View will now terminate at

      Baypointe. Northbound trains operating from Santa Teresa will continue on to

      the

      I-880/Milpitas Station. Beginning June 23, 2004, all Northbound trains

      operating from Santa Teresa will serve all new stations through Alum Rock.

      Baypointe Station

      Light rail trains to and from Mountain View will stop on the center tracks.

      Trains operating to and from Santa Teresa will stop on the outside tracks.
