      Hello,

Wanted to send out some information about the Smart Growth Strategy/ Regional Livability Footprint Project.  I've pasted the text of an e-mail received from the Bay Area Transportation and Land Use Coalition (BATLUC) that helps explain the importance of the "Smart Growth" workshops that will be happening in each of the nine Bay Area counties.  Keep in mind that BATLUC is one of the many groups that will be participating in the workshops, along with elected officials, developers, community members, environmentalists, community organizers, etc.

For more info on what the heck this project's about, check out the ABAG web page through the following link:

As a side note, several SJSU MUP students are helping facilitate the small group exercises that are the highlight of the workshop, so you may see some familiar faces.

This is an exciting opportunity to participate in developing a vision for the future of the Bay Area, particularly as it relates to the location and quantities of future housing and jobs.  Do feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions that cannot be answered by checking out the web page and/or info below.

      Thanks!
