      Job Description

      Project Assistant

       

      The Urban Planning Department at San Jos� State University is working with the Santa Clara Valley Water District and the City of San Jose to develop site design guidelines and policy recommendations incorporating watershed protection measures in trail development.

       

      The project team is recruiting two (2) graduate urban planning students to conduct the following activities:

       

               Coordinate activities with the Santa Clara Valley Water District, the City of San Jose, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services, and other agencies as necessary

               Coordinate urban design activities

               Conduct land use and trail surveys

               Assist in research activities

               Organize and facilitate community-based design workshops, if necessary

               Coordinate the creation of trail design plans in Santa Clara County

               Create digital maps of the watersheds in Santa Clara County

       

      Qualifications:

               Previous experience in planning and community development

               Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Urban Design or related field

               Proficiency in at least 3 of the following programs:  Arc View, GIS, Auto Cad, Corel Draw, Page Maker, Power Point

               Design and/or Landscape Architecture Skills

               Drafting and Mapping Skills

       

      Salary:            $16.5/Hour

       

      Time Frame:  Part-time position.  Starting immediately. 

      The project will continue until May 15, 2004.
