- Neighborhood Mapping Intern
Nextdoor is looking for exceptional intern candidates for a 3-month paid internship. The Neighborhood Mapping Intern will help define neighborhood boundaries in cities across the United States. Nextdoor is launched citywide through partnerships with local police, fire, and other government departments.
The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about community building, has excellent GIS skills, is detail-oriented and technically savvy, and has strong oral and written communication skills.
Research and integrate neighborhood boundary related GIS data from cities
Map city neighborhoods using in-house software with city staff and resident input
Respond to neighborhood boundary related questions and mapping issues from city staff and residents
Assist city staff with other technical issues
Support launch of Nextdoor in small cities
BA/BS degree with a strong academic record; MPA/MPP degree preferred
Excelled in one or more GIS course (or comparable GIS work experience)
Demonstrated ability to master technical skills and work across functions in a fast-paced startup
Ability to quickly grasp mapping concepts, analyze issues, and resolve boundary conflicts by working with city staff and residents
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Passion for the company's product and mission
