      JOB DESCRIPTION:

      Located 120 miles south of San Francisco in Monterey County,
      Carmel-by-the-Sea (pop. 3,684) is known for its white sand beach, lush
      urban forest and extraordinary quality of life. This unique “residential
      village” is also a prestigious tourist destination for many who are
      repeatedly lured by the community’s renowned art galleries, cultural
      activities and numerous special events throughout the year.

      A new position, the Community Planning & Building Director will be
      responsible for all land use, environmental quality, zoning, design,
      building, and code compliance activities. In addition, the Director will
      also provide support for the Planning Commission and Historic Resources
      Board. The ideal candidate will be a visionary planning professional with
      exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. A background in
      architectural design and coastal experience is desirable. A Bachelor’s
      degree is required. A Master’s degree and/or AICP certification is
      preferred.

      The salary range goes up to $154,752 and is currently under review. Salary
      is supplemented by an attractive benefits package. Visit
